Of course, on my favorite night of noise pop, the last night at Great American Music Hall, my camera ran out of battery juice. The first part of the night (that you don't see here) was stripped down to folk tales and soulful melodies by singer-sonwriters Peggy Honeywell and Englishman Neil Halstead.
If you're about love and loss, and a little more love but much more loss, you'd like these folks.

I guess my camera had enough battery to take the headliners, Vetiver.

Danava, these guys must have really been into metal back in the day and after years of playing, reached an apex of what great rock sounds like. They were pretty awesome.

Parchment Farm. If you like Blue Cheer, you'd love these guys. Another great band serving up psych blues with raw funk drumming. This is the stuff the masses need more of.

Noise Pop, day 3.
the Sensations. best opener i've seen so far. throw in a desert rock longing for a clean chorus of vocals, and mixing in some unsaturated vibrato and big muff, you get super tight harmonies too clean for stoners to fly away from; their rythms grounded and expansive like a train trucking through all seasons, all terrains, stopping here and there to pick up a story or two.
the Lamps. raw garagee punkish vibe. what can i say?
Black Lips. fucking best of the night! this was the moment the crowd got to feel, sweat, and lose themselves in the glorious drunken revelry you might get while bogged down in a southern backyard party, drenched in beer and mandatory fuck yous that can result in a good 'ol beat-down, or brotherly hug. loved it when the lead guitarist lit a pack fire crackers from his mouth. need i say more?
yes, and we have the Dirtbombs. motor city does rock, that's for sure. but i kinda wished they'd strip it down. what can i say, i like the old Gories days. but hey, they definitely got people movin' and shakin', and they threw in some dub. that was pretty cool.
